Compared with man-made sweetener, aspartame, which is heard threatening human health, stevia gets much more attraction from customers as natural sweetener with zero calorie.
The Coca-Cola company pushed out brand new coke product Coca Cola Life in Argentina area in 2013, used stevia as sweetener first time. It has the half sugar content of Coca Cola and a little higher than Diet Coke.
Almost the same time, Pepsi-Cola pushed out Pepsi Next with stevia featured in Australia and France, which reduced 30% sweetness than original Pepsi Cola. Besides the featured coke products, stevia is also used in other product line, including Fanta and Vitamin Water etc.
Stevia is extracted from plant, same as sucrose, but with 1/30 calories and 300 times sweetness of white sugar.
